Removing alcohol alone didn't make me happy, but it led me down the path to eventually find the happiness that I was looking for at the bottom of the bottle but never found.
There's a misconception out there that once you remove alcohol, everything will be magical, and you'll be floating on cloud nine. I thought that too.
This is what I said, "Ok, I'm done with detox, now I'm going to wave my magic wand, and everything is going to be amazing. All my debts will be paid. All the people I had wronged were going to love me again. And I was going to be the mom of the year with all the activities I was going to do with my son."
Well, that never happened. 😂
But removing alcohol was the first step to finally working on my past and issues that I used alcohol to cope with. It led me to work on myself to find the happiness I was looking for at the bottom of the bottle that I never found.
I guess the whole point of this post is to say I know that we are impatient and think things will change overnight, but it's a PROCESS. And the only way you're going even to have a chance to begin the work is by removing alcohol.
So pat yourself on the back for ditching alcohol, but remind yourself that this is only the beginning in finding the real you you've been suppressing for so long. And don't look at it as a daunting process; look at it as an opportunity to learn and grow. There is joy in this process, but it's on you to find it.
Are you having a hard time with not just removing the alcohol but all the underlying layers of why you ran to booze in the first place?
I (@alysonpremo) have ONE spot left for June for my 90 Day 1:1 Coaching Program From Detox to Dedication. This is where I bring YOU through my signature Sober Mom Method™ to break this habit you've relied on for so long, reverse the toxic cycle, and finally meet the REAL YOU that's been hidden under the guise of alcohol and motherhood for far too long.
