Stop romanticizing alcohol. By Alyson Premo

One of the key pieces to the puzzle is to stop putting alcohol on a pedestal. Start seeing it for what it truly is instead of what marketing portrays it to be.

What is alcohol really? I'll tell you.

❌ A cancer-causing carcinogen

❌ A depressant

❌ Increases anxiety

❌ Disrupts your REM sleep

❌ Ethanol (yes, gasoline)

Did you know?

👉🏻 Alcohol is the third leading PREVENTABLE cause of death in the United States.

There is nothing to romanticize about a poison that can kill you. Sure, a glass of wine here and there will not kill you, but you know if you're on this page, that isn't you. Add the emotional rollercoaster you feel after you've drank when you told yourself you wouldn't, and that's the icing on the cake.

It's time to start looking at alcohol as something that doesn't give but only takes. It takes our sanity, our health, and ultimately our soul.

Are you ready to see alcohol for what it really is and take your power back from the hold it has over your life? The Authentically Alcohol-Free August - 30 Day Challenge is a great way to shift your mindset towards alcohol and get the consistency needed to ditch alcohol for good. Daily content with audio lessons. Daily journal prompts. A Whatsapp chat group of ONLY mothers in a judgment-free space who understand what you're going through. A 90-minute group coaching call where I answer all your questions, hold space for you, and you get to hear others who are in a similar position as you, and some extra bonuses as well.

Truly a no-brainer for the price it is! The group coaching call alone is worth the cost of the program.

Have you been a toe dipper on your alcohol-free journey? By Alyson Premo.

Have you been a toe dipper on your alcohol-free journey?

Maybe you're testing the waters; you go a week without drinking but then end up back in the same cycle.

Maybe you're so close to completing Dry July but already looking forward to "celebrating" by opening your favorite bottle of red, and then you go straight back to the same old drinking habits.

Maybe you've been wishy-washy and contemplating whether you should do this or not. You keep going back and forth if it's worth it, or your fear of failure says no way. I'm not even going to try because I won't be able to do it.

If you're a toe dipper, that means you're not FULLY committing. What's the point of doing something without having your whole heart and soul into it and FULLY committing to changing your habits.

As we know, it is not easy or quick to unlearn a habit you've relied on for a decade or more. But when you decide to fully commit 100%, that is when you will see success. Will success happen right away? No. The Universe likes to test you to see how bad you really want it. It will throw lessons your way to see if you're truly committed to this alcohol-free life.

If you don't FULLY commit to something, then you won't get all the energy and powers you need to create the life you want. When you FULLY commit and decide there is no other option and put effort into it every day, then that's when the Universe sends you the resources your way.

Synchronicities start to happen.

People come into your life like magic.

Everything starts to work in your favor.

Full commitment means full potential. So who's ready to FULLY commit to 30 Days Alcohol-Free in the Authentically Alcohol Free August - 30 Day Challenge? No more wishy-washy I can't do this thinking. You CAN do this, and to show yourself that, you have to START and be surrounded by other mothers who can support you when times get tough and celebrate your mini wins along the way. Plus, add tools and resources and accountability, and you have THE WAY to reach your true potential—no more excuses.

Imagine a world where instead of telling someone to have a glass of wine when dealing with life's stressors, we encourage them to open up and LISTEN to them.

Imagine a world where instead of telling someone to have a glass of wine when dealing with life's stressors, we encourage them to open up and LISTEN to them.

Imagine, huh?

It's crazy to me that when someone tells us that they are having a rough time with motherhood or life, we tell them that a toxic, addictive substance will help.

ALCOHOL IS NOT HELPING.

We don't solve the actual problem; we put a bandaid on it for a few hours then wake up the next day with the same problem or even worse ones that arise like saying things we don't mean to our kids or significant other, getting a DUI, and not to mention a hangover from hell.

Do you want to know what will actually get the ball rolling to solve the problem? Looking for a solution, NOT pretending it doesn't exist. Pretending only leads to more anxiety because we're still not dealing with it. Then we pour a substance that increases our anxiety to the stress and anxiety we already have with that problem, and it's a clusterfuck.

Most importantly, when we say we're having a tough day, we just want someone to be there for us. We want someone to listen. We want a hug. We just want to feel loved and supported. We don't want to be dismissed, and that's what happens when you tell someone just go have a drink.

Don't be that person.

If you are on the waitlist for the Authentically Alcohol Free August - 30 Day Challenge, check your emails today for the discount code. That code expires this Wednesday, July 28th, at 11:59 pm EST, so if you want to use it, then do it by then no ifs, ands, or buts.

Who's ready to end the Summer on a good note instead of "why the fuck did I waste another Summer getting drunk?"

Stop wasting precious time. Time is the only thing we can't get back, and that's why it's so imperative you start looking at your relationship with alcohol BEFORE it's too late.

P.S. This challenge is for those who are TRULY committed and ready to connect with other mothers on a similar journey. If that's you, then I can't wait to meet you!

Not every time I drank was bad. By Alyson Premo.

Not every time I drank was bad, but the "fun" times never outweighed the hangovers, regret, crippling anxiety, and shame that I felt the next day.

Sometimes there can be this misconception that every time we drank, something bad happened, or we woke up the next day feeling like we wanted to die from a massive hangover. There were some times where I had a buzz and didn't drink to excess, but let's be honest, I could count those times on one hand. When I drank, I saw no point in having one.

People who leave half a glass of wine at a restaurant?

People who drink only a couple of times a year?

People whose lives don't revolve around where they can have a drink?

☝🏻 All foreign concepts to me.

When I went all in, I went ALL in until I passed out or had no alcohol left.

But also, see how I put fun in quotations? Because what really is the definition of fun? We've been conditioned that the only way to have fun is with alcohol, but that's not true at all. Kids have fun, and they don't drink.

Stop letting society, your friends, and your family dictate what the meaning of fun is to you.

❌ Fun isn't slurring your words.

❌ Fun isn't being able to remember how you put the kids to bed.

❌ Fun isn't blacking out.

❌ Fun isn't waking up at 3 am with crippling anxiety.

❌ Fun isn't saying things you regret.

❌ Fun isn't doing things that aren't in alignment with your values.

Fun is creating memories with your kids.

Fun is finding activities that truly bring you joy, not a superficial high.

Fun is being around people that you don't have to put a facade on for. You are unapologetically yourself - no hiding.

Fun is exploring what lights you up, not what someone tells you you're supposed to do.

Are you ready to see how FUN an alcohol free life can be? Then get on the waitlist for Authentically Alcohol Free August - 30 Day Challenge starting August 1st!

The greatest gift you can give your kids is a mother who doesn't drink. By Alyson Premo.

Seriously think about this. Take a moment to reflect on why this is true. Sure, they may want an iPhone or Legos or whatever else they're into.

We can get our kids all the material things in the world, and they eventually grow out of it or play with it for a month, then it sits in the back of the closet. I've spent hundreds of dollars on gifts that my son only played with once. And yet, I never learn when his birthday or the holiday season rolls around. Ugh.

There is one gift though that doesn't cost a thing, and I can GUARANTEE that your kids will think it's the best gift ever, not just for their birthday or the holidays, but all year round. You not drinking is the greatest gift you can ever give them.

💥 Imagine being present for the moments with our kids that we can't get back.

💥 Imagine your kids being proud of you for not drinking. Because newsflash, they are. My son makes a big deal out of my milestones, and it really is the cutest thing ever.

💥 Imagine showing them that it's ok to go against the grain and to screw peer pressure. Crazy how we still get pressured to drink even into adulthood, but you can show them that you don't have to follow the crowd no matter what.

Our kids notice and are more observant than we give them credit for. You may not think they notice when we're drunk, but they do.

Is that the example you want to set for them?

Do you want them to think that you drink because of them? Because let's be honest, that's the narrative that we hear all the time. I can't take my kids, so I'm just going to have a drink. Imagine being a kid and hearing that. Yikes.

Give your kids the greatest gift you can by not drinking.

Things to remember on this sober journey. By Alyson Premo.

Things to remember:

you are constantly growing, learning, experiencing

your mistakes do not define you

you are not on anyone's timeline except your own

That last one, though. We tend to compare our journeys with others.

👉🏻Maybe it's that they're farther along than you - in days because how else do you measure farther along?

👉🏻Maybe it's that they're always smiling while you feel like you're more miserable than not.

👉🏻Maybe it's that you've gained weight, and they've lost.

👉🏻Maybe it's that your face broke out while they have glowing skin.

Whatever the case is, we tend to look at what's not going right for us compared to others. As a human, it's natural to do that, but it's not doing you any favors.

Focus on YOU and YOUR improvements. I can guarantee that you have many. Heck, putting down the bottle alone is a huge accomplishment, so stop looking at the superficial aspects of this journey and start giving yourself praise for unlearning a toxic habit you've relied on for years or, in some cases, decades.

We also don't know what someone else's life is like OR what they are experiencing, OR what the beginning of their journey looked like. Most of the time, we see what others want us to see, NOT the real messy, chaotic parts, so keep that in mind too.

We all have our own timeline of healing and growth, so yes, praise others for their accomplishments but don't' forget to give yourself kudos too. And this is exactly why, after a 1:1 session with my clients, they receive an email with wins that they've had for the previous week.

If you're having a hard time forgiving yourself for the past, and wondering how you're going to deal with all the uncomfortable emotions that you used to suppress with alcohol, then 1:1 coaching is a great way to work through these things in a judgment-free space with someone who UNDERSTANDS. Being able to talk through what you've been so used to numbing with alcohol is the key to letting your crutch go once and for all.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, then you're in luck. I (@alysonpremo) have ONE spot left for the 90 Day 1:1 Program.

Apply by clicking here.

How do you start? By Alyson Premo.

How do you start?

You DECIDE that you aren't going to drink today. That's it.

This is a question that I hear daily, and I think many of us overcomplicate this alcohol-free journey.

We pick a day that we think will be good but then end up drinking on that day. Then we push it off another few days or weeks or months, and before you know it, another year has gone by, and you're still in the same position you were in when you said you wanted to stop drinking.

Mamas, all you have to do is say, "I'm not drinking today." I don't care if that day is a Wednesday, a holiday, or a Sunday. Just pick the damn day and do everything you can not to drink THAT DAY. That's it.

You're probably thinking, but Alyson, you make it sound so simple. It is simple, but it's not easy. But really, that's the whole point. If it were easy, everyone would be alcohol-free. It's hard because we've been conditioned our entire lives that alcohol is the way to be grown-up, sexy, and fun.

I don't know about you, but alcohol didn't make me feel any of those things most of the time.

What might have turned out as using alcohol to have fun with friends turned into one too many, and barely remembering how I made it into bed.

And sexy? Alcohol doesn't make you sexy. What is sexy about duck faces, smeared makeup, falling over, throwing up, cottonmouth, and slurring your words?

What is sexy, though, is glowing skin, waking up with your makeup removed from the night before, drinking water to keep yourself hydrated, remembering how you made it home, and being confident in your decision not to drink alcohol.

One of my 1:1 clients in our session last week said that her husband told her that her not drinking was attractive. 😍 How amazing is that? People notice, so don't think they don't, especially those closest to you.

If you're having a hard time just starting, then 1:1 coaching can be just what you need to get this alcohol-free journey STARTED. Accountability and having a judgment-free space to TALK through what's been holding you back from ditching alcohol for good is, in my opinion, the key to beating this once and for all.

I have ONE spot left for the 90 Day 1:1 Program.

Every time you choose alcohol, you show the Universe that you aren't worthy of a life without it.

Many of you say you don't want to drink, but your actions are proving otherwise.

✨ Every time you choose alcohol over discomfort, you tell the Universe that you'd rather prolong the process and make it harder on yourself.

✨ Every time you choose alcohol over the relationship with your kids, you tell the Universe that you'd rather escape than make memories.

✨ Every time you choose alcohol over your true desires, you tell the Universe that you simply don't want that life.

If you keep choosing alcohol over yourself, your kids, your relationships, and the life you truly want, then it's time to do something about it.

The more you keep choosing alcohol, the harder it gets to get out of the cycle. The more engrained the habit becomes, and not only that, the more chance you have to become addicted because that's what alcohol does. It reels you into thinking it's fun and "not bad" until it's too late and you're in the grips of a vicious cycle, and you have no idea how you got there.

Need support to get out of the drinking cycle? 👇🏻

I (@alysonpremo) have ONE spot open for July for my 90 Day 1:1 Coaching Program - From Detox To Dedication. This is the program where I guide you through my 5 step framework to breaking bad habits, reversing the toxic cycle, and meeting the REAL you for the first time that's been hiding under the guise of motherhood and alcohol for far too long.

If nothing else has worked in getting sobriety to stick, then it's time to change how you're approaching it, and 1:1 Coaching can be the catalyst you need to make alcohol irrelevant in your life once and for all.

Waking up clear-headed, proud of yourself, and with no regrets beats any superficial high alcohol gives you.

Who is waking up without a raging hangover today? 🙋🏼‍♀️

How AMAZING does it feel?

Seriously the past version of you. The one who would be wasting a day hungover in bed ruminating on what you said or did the day before and beating yourself up for yet again breaking promises to yourself would be so damn proud of YOU today.

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU TOO!!

Are you sick of breaking promises to yourself when it comes to your drinking?

Are you sick of the day 1's?

Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?

Are you sick of the frustration, lack of trust, and distance that drinking brings to your relationships?

Then it's time to do something about it.

Wishing things were different isn't going to magically make things better. You have to put in the work, surround yourself with others who will be there to support you, and talk through what's been the real reasons why you haven't been able to ditch alcohol FOR GOOD.

Your freedom lies in your ability not to give a sh*t about what others think of you not drinking. By Alyson Premo.

Your freedom lies in your ability not to give a sh*t about what others think of you not drinking.

It's 4th of July weekend, and you know what that means. A lot of drunk people thinking that it's cool, sexy, and fun to wake up with a raging hangover, then continue to drink throughout the day tomorrow for the festivities, and then wake up on Monday wondering where their weekend went and why they have hangxiety and feel like absolute garbage.

Let me just tell you right now. I DO NOT miss those days. I may have thought they were fun in the moment, but my definition of fun was wack.

❌ Is it fun to blackout? Um no. No matter what your friends, memes, or anyone else says, blackouts are a HUGE sign that there is something wrong with your drinking. Not to mention how much damage you're doing to your brain.

❌ Is it fun to drive drunk? No, and this is something I'm forever grateful I never hurt anyone else in the process of me not recognizing the impact of my drinking. If you drink this weekend, please use an Uber, have a designated driver, or spend the night wherever you are.

❌ Is it fun to be the brunt of the jokes at the party for your behavior? Nope. While some may think it's funny if you're drinking in your 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's like you did in your early 20's I've got a little PSA for you - it is not cute anymore.

❌ Is it fun to be hungover to the point where it takes you a whole week to recover from a weekend of drinking? No. Think about how much TIME you are missing out on when you do this. If it's taking a week for you to recover, your body is telling you to stop punishing it. You only have one body and mind; start treating it with respect.

You can have all the fun in the world celebrating alcohol-free without all of what I listed above. Think about how proud of yourself you'll be when Monday rolls around, and you actually had FUN without drinking.

Don't let anyone who has their own insecurities about drinking tell you otherwise.
