Alcohol gives you a false sense of reality that it makes your life more manageable.
Trust me. It doesn't.
One of the most common things I hear from moms is this..." wine helps me get through the cleaning or the household tasks of laundry, homework with the kids, making dinner, etc."
What it all comes down to us wanting to escape from the daily mundane things in life. It's not right or wrong that you're looking for an outside source to break free from the monotony. But it is incorrect to think that alcohol (a chemically addictive drug) will make it easier for you to tolerate the boredom.
I know that it's hard to sit with our thoughts and feelings, but boredom is part of life. I think we're all learning now more than ever that we as a society have a problem with just sitting and letting ourselves be bored. It's ok not to be doing something 24/7. Actually, the best things get created from boredom, so instead of wanting to escape, why don't you embrace the boredom.
Embrace that every part of daily life isn't going to be exciting, and that's ok.
For the longest time, I thought alcohol was helping me manage life, but it was doing the exact opposite. My brain chemistry was being altered, and I started to rely on it. Once I depended on it, it was game over.
Alcohol wasn't the glue holding my life together as I thought. It was tearing everything apart. Take it from firsthand experience.
My life became unmanageable, NOT manageable, because of alcohol.
