Things I DO NOT miss from my drinking days around the holidays.
-stocking up on alcohol to make sure I didn't run out.
-sneaking and hiding how much I was really drinking.
-half-a**ing holiday traditions
With today being Good Friday and Sunday being Easter, I was passing the liquor store yesterday, and I was like "man, how great does it feel to not have to worry about buying all the alcohol to make sure I don't run out, and then looking at the cashier like this isn't just for me - it's the holiday!"
HOW EXHAUSTING!!!!
Seriously how exhausting to keep up this front that there was nothing wrong with me. I was living in DENIAL and living in actual hell.
At 5 years and 5 months sober TODAY, I still have gratitude EVERY SINGLE DAY for the life I'm living. From how I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and said enough is enough for my son and me, and now I get to live my purpose while making an income.
Does this post resonate with you? Are you stocking up on for this weekend and half-a**ing holiday traditions with your kids because you're more worried about alcohol and making sure you don't look drunk?
